What a cookie is
A small file a site asks your browser to keep. Some are needed for the site to work at all — staying signed in, for instance. Others just count visits. We use both kinds, and this page lists every one of them by name.
What we set
These two are set on every visit. They are first-party — stored under thedigitplus.com, not by an advertising network — and they exist so we can see which pages and products people actually use.
- _ga— Google Analytics 4. Tells one browser apart from another so a returning visit isn't counted as a new person. Lasts about two years.
- _ga_XE1QG0C4QQ — Google Analytics 4. Holds the session state for our specific property. Lasts about two years.
Google processes this on our behalf. We look at it in aggregate — page views, popular categories, where a checkout was abandoned. We don't use it to identify you personally, and we don't run advertising or retargeting cookies of any kind.
Only if you sign in
- sb-…-auth-token — set by Supabase, our authentication provider, when you sign in. It is what keeps you signed in between pages. Without it you would be logged out on every click. Signing out removes it.
Your cart isn't a cookie
Your basket is kept in your browser's local storage under digitplus.cart, not in a cookie. It stays on your device and isn't sent to us with each request — we only receive it when you actually place an order. Clearing your browser's site data empties the cart.
What we don't do
- No advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No selling or sharing of analytics data with third parties.
- No cookie wall — the site works whether or not you accept analytics cookies.
- Vercel Analytics is enabled for page performance and is cookieless — it sets nothing on your device.
Paying is handled by Paystack. Their checkout runs on their own systems and sets its own cookies under Paystack's domain, governed by their policies, not this one. We never see your card details.
How to control them
Cookies are controlled in your browser, and the setting applies to every site — including ours. The relevant option is usually under Settings → Privacy:
- Chrome— Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and “Delete browsing data” to clear what is already stored.
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Block all cookies, or Manage Website Data.
- Firefox— Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
To opt out of Google Analytics everywhere without touching your cookie settings, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on.
Two things worth knowing before you block everything: blocking cookies for this site will sign you out and keep you from signing back in, and clearing site data empties your cart. Browsing and searching work fine either way.
